Released in August 2025.
A five CD release focusing on recorded material from Hollywood, both offical recordings from studio and rehearsals. The years 1972, 1974 and 1975 are in question, mainly 1972.
Nothing really new here for the avid Elvis fan, but especially the studio material from March 1972 and 1975 have noticeable improvements, or at least variations. The master versions are said to be undubbed, but we hardly get anything undubbed from Matt Ross-Spang. What we get is stripped down versions, often close to undubbed. But sometimes far from it.
'Where Do I Go From Here' is the track from 1972 that stick out most sound wise. It is SO much better than heard before.
'Shake A Hand' must be a version prepared for release, but rejected. Most likely the version here is the result after the final overdub.
The rehearsal from Aug. 16 1974 sounds better on bootleg in my point of view. The mono version first released on From Sunset Blvd To Paradise RD is the best as I see it, but even the binaural version (as found here) is better on bootleg Autmn Gold.
As for the artwork. Hmmm...It ooozes AI and I don't like that either.
However, a good relase and priceworthy. I wish FTD could learn something here... |
